White oak logs have been harvested curing in a pond awaiting their new home as keel, ribs and rudder

If anyone can tell me why sinking logs is so effective?  I would like to know better why this way of curing woods is so effective for marine applications.  I haven't found much on the internet.  You can reach me under the "contact" tab.
                                                       Thank you!

They see the works of the Lord, and His wonders in the deep."
